FAQs
How much does it cost to rent an e-bike in Huntington Beach?
The Aventon Pace 4 is $35/hour or $79/day. The HBBC DTR Premium is $45/hour or $99/day. Hourly rentals have no minimum, and daily rentals run until 6pm.
What's included with my rental?
Every rental includes a complimentary helmet, basket, and lock at no extra charge. You also get a premium bike from the same fleet we sell in the shop — inspected before every rental.
Do I need to reserve ahead, or can I just walk in?
Both. You can book online or call 714-960-0973 to reserve, and walk-ins are welcome subject to availability. We recommend calling ahead on busy summer weekends.
Is a deposit required?
Yes — a refundable security deposit is held on your card at pickup and released when you return the bike in good condition. We'll go over the amount when you check in.
What's the minimum age to rent?
Renters must be 18 or older with a valid government-issued photo ID. Riders under 18 are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
How long is a rental and when do I return it?
Hourly rentals are returned by the hour you booked; daily rentals are due back by 6pm the same day. Late returns are charged at the hourly rate for each additional hour.
Where can I ride?
The classic route is The Strand — head west on Main, onto the oceanfront path toward Bolsa Chica or south to Newport (about 8.5 miles one way). Bolsa Chica State Beach is a quieter morning ride, and the downtown HB loop past the pier and Pacific City is perfect for a one-hour outing. Keep it to 8 mph on the bike path and watch for pedestrians.
Can I rent for a group?
Yes — groups are welcome. Call ahead at 714-960-0973 and we'll have bikes ready for your crew.
Can the rental cost go toward buying a bike?
Yes. Your full rental fee applies toward the purchase of any e-bike, same day or next day — just let us know at the shop.
Are these the same bikes you sell?
Yes. We rent our premium fleet — the same bikes on the showroom floor, not stripped-down rental models.
Do I need a license or experience to ride an e-bike in Huntington Beach?
No license required. In California, Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are treated like regular bicycles — no license, registration, or insurance needed. No prior e-bike experience necessary either; we'll walk you through everything before you roll out. Minimum age is 18 to rent independently, or younger with a parent or guardian.
Is parking free near your e-bike rental shop?
Street parking on and around Main St is metered. The closest structure is the Main St Parking Structure at 200 Main St — a short walk from the shop. The pier lot off PCH is another option, especially if you're coming from the south. Many customers park once and ride the rest of the day, which is kind of the point.
Can I ride an e-bike on the beach in Huntington Beach?
You can ride on The Strand — the paved oceanfront bike path that runs along the beach — but not on the sand itself. The Strand is the main route most renters take, running from north of the pier all the way to Newport Beach (about 8.5 miles one way from our shop). Keep your speed to 8 mph on the path and watch for pedestrians, especially on busy summer days.
How far can I ride on a single charge?
Both bikes in our rental fleet have more than enough range for a full day on The Strand. The Aventon Pace 4 has a range of 40+ miles, and the HBBC DTR Premium is built for extended rides as well. A round trip from the shop to Bolsa Chica and back is roughly 10–12 miles — well within a single charge. You won't run out of battery on a normal rental.
What happens if the bike breaks down during my rental?
Call us at 714-960-0973 and we'll help you sort it out. Every bike is inspected before your rental, but if something comes up mid-ride, we're at the shop daily 11am–6pm — give us a call and we won't leave you hanging.
